AT&T gets hit with a Data Breach


For those of you that didn’t hear, AT&T got hit with a data breach over the weekend.

What I know today,

  • Personal information like social security numbers may have been stolen,
  • 7.6M current account holders information may have been compromised,
  • 65.4M former account holders may have been compromised,
  • The source has yet to be identified, it could be a AT&T or a vendor,
  • What has AT&T done so far?
    • Reset passcodes,
    • Reaching out to affected customers and former customers,
    • Researching what was taken, it appears no financial info was taken,
  • If you’re an AT&T customer, contact or log into your account immediately and change all your passwords!!
  • Look out for scammers and spammers.

It has been a tough year for AT&T, they had a massive outage back in February. Not due to a hacker but AT&T says it was a technical glitch, more or less.
